Myles Young is a Sydney-based graduate of the National Art School who has today exhibited Australia-wide in multiple solo and group presentations at established galleries and art fairs. The artist brings with him an exceptional list of accolades, having been a finalist in the 2021 Paddington Art Prize, won the 2020 Macquarie Emerging Artist Prize and having twice been shortlisted by the prestigious Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship (2018, 2019). Young's work is housed by the Macquarie Bank Collection and in numerous private collections across Australia. The artist’s recent landscape paintings offer unfixed memories of distant places. In these places, time is itself a material, layered again and again in every bustling composition. The scenes are of “nowhere in particular”, says Young, who instead imagines place as being always in a state of growth or flux.
