Tamara Dean | Blouin Artinfo

Tamara Dean has been featured on global art news website Blouin Artinfo, in celebration of her selection as a finalist in the prestigious New York Photo Awards for her new series The Edge.

“Dean’s powerful images exploring the informal rituals and rites of passage of young people within the natural world have won numerous awards, including the Olive Cotton Award and Sydney Life: Art & About. Her work has been exhibited around Australia and internationally, most recently at the 2013 Aspettando FotoLeggendo festival in Rome.” – Nicholas Forrest, Blouin Artinfo

Dean also explains the concept behind her most recent series The Edge, “In our increasingly secular society there are less and less formal transitionary markers, structured rites of passage and significant rituals for young people to guide them through critical stages in their lives.”
