Signed in pencil Beckmann lower right, numbered 13/40
and inscribed Frau auf Sofa (difficult to identify) lower
left. A superb impression with rich burr and velvety
blacks. On smooth Japan, with wide margins. From the
edition of 40, printed from the steel-faced plate, aside
from ten impressions before steel-facing. Published by
Peter Zingler´s Kabinett, Frankfurt 1921.
Aside from Woman at Night only four other prints by
Beckmann were published by Zingler´s Kabinett, run by
Peter Zingler in Frankfurt between 1919 and 1925.
Amongst these are the important drypoints Königin Bar
(Self-Portrait) (Hofmaier 176) and Large Bridge
(Hofmaier 243).
