Olsen Irwin would like to congratulate our artist Laura Jones on being included in the 2016 'Guilty Pleasures' exhibition on Kensington Street as part of the Syndey Morning Herald 'Good Food Month'. From their Facebook page: 'Kensington Street is celebrating Good Food Month on Tuesday 25 October by giving members of the public license to indulge in the forbidden, with a series of events exploring the Seven Deadly Sins. As Good Food Month descends upon Sydney, Kensington Street and Chippendale Creative Precinct are exploring the wonders and complexities of excess. We deviously welcome the chance to take food off the plate and onto the canvas with an exhibition Guilty Pleasures inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins, opening on Tuesday 25 October at 6pm at the Old Rum Store, Kensington Street, Chippendale. We invite you to lose yourself in a world of opulence and indulgence as some of Australia?s most highly acclaimed and innovative artists explore the complex and wonderfully excessive relationship between envy, lust, gluttony, sloth, pride, wrath and greed through the medium of painting. Each participating artist will conjure a unique approach to the sins, invoking ideas of excess and indulgence, as they relate to gastronomy. The exhibition, entitled ?Guilty Pleasures?, will be co-curated by Nicky Ginsberg of Kensington Contemporary and esteemed philanthropist and art collector Pat Corrigan, who will also open the exhibition. Indulge in a wondrous collection of original artworks from some of Australia?s most widely acclaimed and innovative artists, including 2016 Archibald People's Choice Award Winner Nicholas Stathopoulos, alongside many-time Archibald Finalists Leslie Rice and Jasper Knight, to name a few. We also welcome acclaimed artists Scott Marsh, Mulga, Fiona White, Laura Jones, Nicole Kelly and many other exciting names. A percentage of the proceeds from this exhibition will go towards OzHarvest, the brainchild of 2010 Australian of the Year, Ronni Kahn. In 2005 Ozharvest successfully lobbied to legalise the donation of surplus food to charitable organisations, ever since they have helped countless Australians by using excess for good.'
