Moonee Beach #5, 2016, acrylic on linen, 46cm x 55.5cm[/caption] Alan on reflecting on his residency...
"Working at Moonee Beach proved to be a really important and productive 9 days. Over the years I have spent time painting en plein air but it certainly isn't typically part of my practice. To find myself working outdoors in a completely new costal environment, I found to be a real challenge yet invigorating at the same time. Painting at Moonee Beach forced me to consider the fleetingness of our landscape. Sunlight reflecting off the water alone meant nothing was ever still. Colours would change ever few minutes as the tide come in and out. As a result, the work I produced was kept very quick and open as I aimed to capture what would be merely a brief moment in time."

Alan has also recently produced a wonderful homage to George Stubbs with his distinct style for our Equus Exhibition.
