Philip Hunter's 'Lines In The Dirt' exhibition will be opened by John Olsen at the Tim Olsen Gallery on Tuesday. (Olsen has commented that the present work reveals Hunter has climbed the ladder to become one of Australia's leading artists.) Raised in western Victoria's Wimmera district, in a house in which he says culture was driven by his teacher-mother, it was his grandfather's gift of an easel that spurred him into action capturing the landscape. In the show's catalogue, Peter Corrigan states: 'Hunter's engagement with the metaphysical may offer us a glimpse of something truer or more orignal that we usually encounter.'
