Anh Do is an artist prepared to take risks. At 37 the comedian, actor, television personality turned author has decided to focus the past five years around painting. After winning several regional art prizes and being selected as a finalist in the Archibald prize for his emotive depiction of his father Tam. Do is about to have his first solo exhibition with Olsen Irwin. ?I have never feared failure? Do is quoted as telling the weekend Australian. Do equates his nonchalance towards failure as developed out of his escape from Vietnam on a 9-meter fishing boat bound for Australia. Do?s father was able to sail the craft against a sea of uncertainty delivering the 40 lives on board to a new start in Australia. Do?s show has taken over three months to create and is comprised of the faces of many of his friends.
