A new record for a work by a living Australian artist was set in Tasmania yesterday when John Olsen's Love in the Kitchen sold for $1.093 million (including buyer's premium) to a private Melbourne collector.

A new record for a work by a living Australian artist was set in Tasmania yesterday when John Olsen's Love in the Kitchen sold for $1.093 million (including buyer's premium) to a private Melbourne collector. The 1969 painting was sold by Mossgreen auctions as part of Tasmanian dealer Nevin Hurst's collection. The price was substantially above the $400,000 to $6000,000 estimate.
