It is with sadness that Brett Stone and Rex Irwin have decided to ease back from the commercial art scene having contributed so much. It has been a great privilege to work with them for this short time and it?s interesting that I worked for Rex over thirty years ago before starting my own gallery. ?I will always be grateful to Rex as both a mentor and more recently as a colleague. I wish both Brett and Rex every success and happiness in their new endeavours and I?m certain that they will continue to enrich the artworld in many ways; being an industry of passion?from which you never really retire. Brett will be finishing at the end of this month and Rex towards the end of this year.

?Interestingly enough both Brett and I came to a similar decision independently, but on the same day. As some of you may know I had a minor health scare over Christmas but it did rather focus my attention on the greater scheme of things.?After fifty years in the art world I have decided to retire. Forty of these years were as Rex Irwin Art Dealer, 29 of which were with my colleague and friend Brett Stone. Both Brett and I have enjoyed the excitement of Olsen Irwin and thank Tim and all our colleagues for their support and forbearance.?Rex Irwin
