Being selected as a finalist is a huge honour to any artist as well as a nod of encouragement from the art establishment. Archibald Prize The Archibald Prize is awarded annually to the best portrait, 'preferentially of some man or woman distinguished in art, letters, science or politics, painted by any artist resident in Australasia?. Julian Meagher Meagher's portrait in the Archibald Prize depicts Daniel Johns the former lead singer of Silverchair.
