Olsen Irwin artist Sophie Cape will be trekking to the Everest Base Camp as part of the 'On Top of The World' Campaign in April, 2014. The trip aims to raise $100,000 for Sunnyfield Disability Services, an organisation that has provided services for people with disabilities and their families across New South Wales for over 60 years. Cape will be accompanied by Sunnyfield?s Chief Financial Officer, Annie Doyle, who will be completing the climb to the Everest summit; Annie's daughter, Grace; fashion designer, Elke Kramer; Director of Hype DC, Cindy Gilbert and women?s advocate, Melissa Bergin. Cape finds inspiration outside the studio and often exposes her works to the elements, such as heat, rain and frost. The trek to Everest base camp is sure to have a profound influence her future works. "The landscape is imbued in the works. In this way I am free from the constraints of the studio. In an uncontrollable environment I am able to be much more physical, robust and performative in the process of creating the work. It's so important to truly see and feel the world around you in order to respond to it, and find your voice within it." - Sophie Cape To donate or read more about Sophie Cape's trip and Sunnyfield Disability Services click here [caption id="attachment_2218" align="aligncenter" width="650"]
