“You can’t help but come out of this exhibition feeling elated by its hurdy-gurdy of perceptual games” Courtney Kidd, SMH An exhibition of Melinda Harper’s kaleidoscopic, abstract paintings opens at the gallery this March. Melbourne based Harper has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally. She was recently invited to The First Beijing Biennale, and has been included in many major abstraction exhibitions such as Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art, and Good Vibrations: the legacy of Op Art in Australia at the Heide Museum of Modern Art, and Australian Perspecta, at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Harper’s paintings are a celebration of paint, abstraction and optical illusion. Each painting is in itself a symphony and celebration of colour.
